The Enormous Crocodile by Roald Dahl.
The Enormous Crocodile is a greedy, boastful crocodile who announces he is going to the town to eat some children for his lunch. He brags about his 'secret plans and clever tricks' to catch them. The other jungle animals — Trunky the elephant, Muggle-Wump the monkey, the Roly-Poly Bird and Toto the hippopotamus — warn him that they will stop him.
The Enormous Crocodile disguises himself variously as: a see-saw in a playground, a Christmassy thing on a merry-go-round, a bench in the park, and a coconut tree. Each time he gets close to eating a child, one of the other animals intervenes and exposes him.
Finally, Trunky the elephant grabs the crocodile by the tail and swings him around and around before hurling him far into space, where he is burned up by the sun.
