What is freebookquiz.com?

freebookquiz.com is a free educational website providing reading comprehension quizzes and original stories for children aged 6–16 in the United Kingdom. Our content is aligned to the national curriculum and designed to support KS2, KS3 and GCSE English.

Every quiz, story and resource on the site is completely free. There is no registration, no subscription and no paywall. We believe that high-quality reading practice should be available to every child, regardless of family income.

What do we offer?

• Book quizzes — quiz questions at three levels (KS2 recall, KS3 inference and GCSE analysis) for 51 popular books including Roald Dahl, David Walliams, Michael Morpurgo, Shakespeare and Dickens. Each book has 45 questions across three difficulty tiers.
• Comprehension stories — 23 original short stories for Years 3–11, each with 10 comprehension questions, a vocabulary section, parent guidance and a print button. Topics include Minecraft, farming, dance, the evacuation, fossil hunting and more.
• Illustrated fact books — non-fiction reading for younger children (ages 7–10), starting with our Skyscrapers book. Each page has a quiz, vocabulary and fun facts.
• Word games — fun spelling and vocabulary games based on popular children's books.

Who makes this site?

freebookquiz.com was created by Louise Burns, a UK-based developer and educator with a background in children’s literacy and curriculum-aligned content. The site was built because high-quality reading comprehension practice should not sit behind a paywall — especially for families who cannot afford tutoring or premium apps.

All quiz questions, comprehension stories and fact books are original content written specifically for this site. Questions are researched against the books themselves and reviewed for accuracy, age-appropriateness and curriculum alignment before publication.
