Free Book Quiz ("we", "us", "our") operates the website freebookquiz.com (the "Site"). We provide free reading comprehension quizzes for children and educational resources for parents and teachers in the United Kingdom.

2. Our Commitment to Children's Privacy

The protection of children's personal data is a priority for us. Our Site is designed to be used safely by children aged 6 and over.

When you visit the Site, certain technical information is collected automatically by our analytics provider:

• Service providers: Google Analytics (analytics), hosting providers (Tencent EdgeOne). These providers are contractually bound to handle data in accordance with applicable data protection law.
• Legal obligation: If required to do so by law or in response to valid legal process.
• Business transfer: If the Site is sold or transferred, user data may form part of the transferred assets, subject to the same privacy protections.

9. International Data Transfers

Google Analytics processes data on servers in the United States and other countries. Google relies on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the UK ICO to legitimise these transfers. Our hosting provider (Tencent EdgeOne) may process data on servers outside the UK. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for any international transfers.

10. Data Retention

• Analytics data: Retained for 14 months in Google Analytics, then automatically deleted.
• Contact form / email enquiries: Retained for up to 2 years from your last contact, or until you request deletion.
• Quiz results: Not retained — all quiz activity is processed locally in your browser and nothing is sent to our servers.

11. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the following rights:

• Right of access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Right to rectification: Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
• Right to erasure: Request deletion of your personal data ("the right to be forgotten").
• Right to restrict processing: Request that we limit how we use your data.
• Right to data portability: Request your data in a portable format.
• Right to object: Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
• Rights related to automated decision-making: We do not use automated decision-making or profiling.
