Plot Summary

Stickman (2008) is a picture book by Julia Donaldson, illustrated by Axel Scheffler. Stickman lives in the family tree with his Stickman family. He is picked up by a dog, used as a bat, thrown into a river, and used as part of a snowman — but eventually finds his way home on Christmas Eve, guided by Father Christmas.

The story celebrates home, family and perseverance. It is written in rhyming couplets and is widely used in Early Years and KS1 classrooms. The repetition of "I'm Stickman, I'm Stickman, I'm Stickman, that's me!" makes it ideal for group reading.
