Teaching resource for George’s Marvellous Medicine. Suitable for KS2 Years 2–4. Short and ideal for one or two lessons.
Pupils design their own medicine with ten ingredients, explaining what each ingredient does and what the total effect would be. Encourage scientific-sounding language mixed with Dahl-style imagination.
Pupils write the instructions for George’s medicine as a formal recipe or science experiment. Include: equipment needed, method (step by step), safety warnings (this is fiction — but the warnings can be comic), and expected results.
Pupils write a poem about Grandmother using Dahl's style: exaggerated description, comic rhythm and rhyme. Read some of Dahl's own poems from 'Dirty Beasts' or 'Revolting Rhymes' for inspiration.
