Biography
Tom Fletcher was born on 17 July 1985 in Middlesex. He is primarily known as a member of the pop-rock band McFly, which he co-founded in 2003 and which has sold over 10 million albums worldwide. He is also a member of the supergroup McBusted.
Fletcher began writing children's books in 2014 with The Christmasaurus, a Christmas story with songs. He has subsequently written several books including Brain Freeze, Eve of the War, The Creakers (2017) and There's a Monster in Your Book (2017).
His musical background is evident in his storytelling — The Creakers features songs the characters sing, and there is a characteristic attention to rhythm and sound in his prose. He has spoken about wanting to create books that work for children who struggle with conventional reading, and his books share Walliams's commitment to accessibility and entertainment.
Fletcher lives in Hertfordshire with his wife Giovanna (also a bestselling author) and their children, who have appeared in his books.
